Game Modes
The original C&C Renegade game had a particularly unique multiplayer game mode, which attracted many players. After the game's release, the mode was dubbed "Command & Conquer": a skirmish between GDI and Nod in many different environments.
Each team had their own base, where vehicles and weapons were constructed. The bases consisted of different structures, each having its own unique abilities. The objective of the game was to destroy the enemy base while keeping your own intact. Below is a list of different structures this game mode offered:
GDI Buildings
Advanced Guard Tower: The AGT is an automated defense system. It is AI controlled, and is armed with both automatic machine guns and Tomahawk missiles. This defense system can take out any ground and aerial threat without manual countrol.
Infantry Barracks: The GDI keep their infantry well-armed when fighting Nod grunts. The Infantry Barracks supplies the military with enhanced soldiers and advanced weaponry. Without this structure, GDI players will be reduced to using basic weapons.
Weapons Factory: The main element to GDI power is vehicles. Their Weapons Factory constructs any vehicle following their purchase. With the destruction of this building, the team will not be able to purchase any vehicles.
Nod Buildings
Obelisk: The Obelisk is Nod's main form of automated defense. It is a large tower, which fires a concentrated laser beam at any enemy forces. This defense structure is very effective against all types of enemy units. The Obelisk's only weakness is its reload time, which the enemy can use to their advantage.
Turret: This automated defense is Nod's answer to the Obelisk's long reload time. It is a basic, lightly armoured structure, which fires a medium-ranged tank shell at enemy forces. Although it is not very effective against infantry, the turret can pose a threat for incoming GDI tanks.
Airstrip: The Nod guerillas do not always have the materials to build their own tanks from scratch. Instead, the Brotherhood of Nod orders their vehicles by plane. The Airstrip is a long runway, where C-130 cargo planes drop off vehicles following their purchase. Destruction of the Airstrip will halt the flow of Nod tanks.
Hand of Nod: In order to battle GDI forces, Nod infantry must rely on their Hand of Nod to purchase higher classes of weapons. It works much like the GDI Barracks, except it offers different types of weapons.
Buildings Used by both GDI and Nod
Powerplant: This structure is the main supply of power to the base. Factors such as the energy needed to power base defenses, the flow of cash, and even lightbulbs inside the buildings, all rely on the Powerplants. The destruction of a Powerplant makes the defenses idle and ineffective, it halts the flow of credits by 50%, and it doubles the cost of all weapons and vehicles.
Tiberium Refinery: In order for a team to purchase weapons and vehicles, credits will be needed. The Refinery sends out an AI-controlled "Harvester", which collects the valuable Tiberium minerals and makes its way back to the building. The refinement of Tiberium results in "free credits" for each player on the team. This therefore makes the Refinery and Harvester important targets for your enemy.
Credits
Each player will have to maintain and spend their credits wisely when playing Renegade 2007. When your Tiberium Refinery is completely functional, it will produce 2 credits per second for each player on the team. Every time the Harvester docks in, each player on the team receives 300 credits.
There are ways to distrupt a team's flow of credits. By attacking and destroying a team's harvester, the team's awaited docking-in of the harvester is delayed. Harvesters are always automatically rebuilt, however, if the Weapons Factory/Airstrip are functional.
A player must always also rely on himself as a source of credits. By killing enemy troops, and firing at enemy vehicles and structures, credits are granted to a player. This feature therefore rewards players who are working hard by repairing allied structures and destroying enemy positions. It also makes it possible to gain credits after the Refinery is down.
With this money, players will be able to buy weapons, tanks, aircraft, and other vehicles. Therefore, each player must be wise when spending, for one mustn't waste his/her money on low-leveled units when it's not necessary to purchase one. Buy the same token, one mustn't constantly save his credits for the highest and most luxury classes of vehicles.
